| Hey, all you Indiana voters who like Obama, especially you hippie types who have some kind issue with voting, I've got news for you. Indiana, a traditionally "red" state, as in favoring the Republican party over the Democratic ("blue"), is a very pale red now, and on the verge of being a toss-up, or crucial "swing" or "battleground" state. This means that all you Indiana residents' votes are going to mean more than ever this election year!
As we know, winning individual states is important, due to our country's ages-old electoral college system (which has come under controversy this century). If you don't know, every state has a certain number of "electoral votes" (determined by total congressional seats, which is determined by population). These electoral votes are the only thing that actually decides the winner. Everyone in each individual state votes, and the candidate with the most popular votes in that state gets all of that state's electoral votes towards winning for that candidate (except in Maine and Nebraska, who can split their votes). Indiana has eleven electoral votes. Right now, one prediction states that Barack Obama likely has 233 electoral votes locked up, and John McCain has 227...but one of them needs 270 to win. There are 78 total electoral votes that could go either way right now. Right now, Indiana's 11 are just barely expected to go McCain's way, with at least one news report already stating it could, in fact go either way.
So what does this all mean?? Eleven electoral votes could really come in handy, so if you're voting in Indiana, it is very important you vote this election, because Indiana is very close to going blue! Want more hope? All the polls that are coming out nearly every day now, are commonly thought to be under-reporting young people. I mean yeah, I can see that. No one's polled me this whole time. You? And who do you think most young people are breaking voter registration records this year to vote for? Yes, Obama. So really, Indiana may very well be a battleground state already. We all need to vote this election, especially in Indiana!
Other especially important states to vote in: Pennsylvania Ohio Florida Michigan Wisconsin Virginia New Hampshire New Jersey Colorado Nevada
Keep up on the map here with MSNBC's Chuck Todd and their Microsoft Surface (think Pizza Hut Pac-Man table arcade game meets iPhone).
Not registered to vote yet? You have to be registered by Monday, October 6th in Indiana, with similar October dates for other states. This includes time to mail in your form. So do it now! Click below:

| Hey, Xanga, don't delete my Xanga! C'mon, LiveJournal doesn't pull this crap. I'm sure people are really clamoring to get my username--the one that's a word I made up. People who have been asking for usernames that have already been taken should be given an informational welcome pamphlet to the Internet. It can tell them that when the username they want is taken, they have to add numbers (or the emo version of add numbers, add Xs), pick something more obscure or specific, or BE MORE ORIGINAL. XANGA OUT.
